“Sleepy Hollow” Renewed for Second Season at Fox

The Fox supernatural series, “Sleepy Hollow” has officially be renewed for a second season. The series was a surprise hit for the network with its limited run first season which is only 13 episodes long. The series debuted as the network’s highest-rated drama premiere in six seasons.

The series premiere earned a 3.5 rating among adults 18-49 and 10.1 million viewers before jumping an equally notable 43 percent to a 5.0 rating with adults 18-49 in Live+Three Day returns. The second outing of Sleepy Hollow lost little steam, just 11 percent, despite big competition from The Voice and CBS comedy premieres.

“Sleepy Hollow” is based on the Washington Irving short story. The series was created by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Phillip Iscove and Len Wiseman. The one-hour series takes the character of Ichabod Crane and transports him (and the headless horseman) to contemporary Westchester County, New York, which is steeped in an occult conspiracy.

Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly said,

“The show has proven to be a risk well worth taking — it’s a conceptual blast unlike anything else on television and it all holds together with inventive writing and a fantastic cast. I can’t wait for fans to experience what else is in store for this fall and even more of this wild ride into season two.”
