FX Signs Exclusive TV Series Pact with Louis C.K.

FX Networks is not messing around with their prized comedian, Louis C.K. The network has officially signed a deal with the writer and director for the foreseeable future creating a multi-year overall deal with the hyphenate’s Pig Newton banner.

According to the deal,  the FX Prods. unit calls for Pig Newton to develop pilots and series exclusively for FX Networks outlets, with C.K. retaining the option to write or direct any of the projects and also serve as exec producer. Blair Breard, exec producer of C.K.’s FX comedy “Louie,” will be on board as an exec producer or producer on all projects that flow through Pig Newton, as will C.K.’s management shingle, 3 Arts.

FX Networks topper John Landgraf said,

“Working with Louis C.K. has been one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences of my career. I am thrilled that our relationship with Louis and Blair Breard will continue for the foreseeable future through this deal with FXP. So many incredibly talented artists want to work with Louis and follow down the independent and idiosyncratic creative trail he has blazed.  I can’t wait to see who he brings through our door, not to mention any new projects that he wants to create for us.”

C.K.’s hit autobiographical comedy series, “Louis,” on FX has garnered him wide acclaim for the atypical sit-com format. However, the relationship between C.K. and FX has been fruitful for both sides. “Louie” is a marquee player for FX with viewers and a perennial awards magnet. The show’s fourth season is set to bow in May, still on FX and not the recently launched FXX comedy-centric spinoff channel. The announcement of the Pig Network-FX Prods. pact made a point of noting that the deal does not cover future seasons of “Louie.” C.K. also retains the option of going outside FX Networks’ walls for comedy specials.
